Meet Dr. Wilma Luquis-Aponte
Dr. Wilma Luquis-Aponte, a Puerto Rico native, grew up in Caguas, Puerto Rico. The fourth of five children, she always had a passion to help others.
She attended the University of Puerto Rico at Cayey where she received her undergraduate degree in Sciences, and went on to attend the University of Puerto Rico School of Dentistry where she received her degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), as well as the School of Public Health where she finished a Master’s In Public Health with a concentration in Maternal and Child health.
Prior to establishing herself in El Paso and opening her dental practice, Dr. Luquis-Aponte worked as a Dental Director at the Brownsville Community Health Center, the University of Houston, Dental Branch as Assistant Professor and as associate dental provider for other dentists in the El Paso community.
Dr. Luquis-Aponte has 20 years of experience as a dentist and has extensive training in dental procedures and treatment. Her office provides the use of digital imaging and intra-oral camera technology which enables her patients to understand their needs prior to the start of treatment.
Her dedication leads her to seek and get trained in the newest advancements in cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, implants and restorative treatment for the benefit of her patients. She is dedicated to advanced, postdoctoral study and provides her patients with a gentle, caring, comprehensive approach to oral health. She believes in conservative, preventative dentistry, and her goal is to increase the longevity of her patient’s teeth.
Dr. Luquis-Aponte is a standing member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and the El Paso Dental Association. She is also a member of the Puerto Rican Medical Society of El Paso.
When Dr. Luquis-Aponte is not practicing her passion of dentistry she spends most of her time with her three children. She practices ballroom dancing, holds a 1st degree Black belt in the Martial Art of Karate and loves music and art.
